⚾ THE ANGELS HAVE BEEN SOLD

Arte Moreno → Stan Kroenke, $4 Billion

Scott: "This has to make Angels fans excited — maybe they hold onto players, attract more, and renovate or replace one of the oldest stadiums in baseball. This can only be positive news with a guy who has such a good track record."

Bearman: "And it seems like he actually has the money. Moreno did great things over the years and spent money — the Albert Pujols of the world — but they haven't been very successful, they need a new stadium, and I think he wanted out for a while."

The Kroenke Portfolio

Rams · Nuggets · Avalanche · Colorado Rapids · Arsenal — and now the Angels.

⛳ PRESIDENTS CUP TEAMS ARE SET

(Late September — the off-year to the Ryder Cup. USA vs. the world minus Europe.)

Team USA automatics: Scheffler, Cam Young, Wyndham Clark, Sam Burns, Russell Henley, Morikawa Captain's picks: Gotterup, Schauffele, Justin Thomas, Cantlay, Bridgeman, and 21-year-old JACKSON KOIVUN

Bearman: "A kid who didn't even have a PGA Tour card three months ago is now representing Team USA. Love to see it."

The Internationals: Si Woo Kim, Tom Kim, Open champion Ryan Fox, Hideki Matsuyama, Adam Scott, Corey Conners — "a very Asian and Australian feel."

The odds: USA -400, Internationals +350, draw 10/1

🏈 32 IN 32: ARIZONA CARDINALS

The Market

MarketLine
Win total3.5 (over -136)
Fewest wins in the NFL+250 (FAVORITE)

The Roster Comparison Both Agree On

Scott: "I gave out the Dolphins at +270 for fewest wins because the Cardinals are better than the Dolphins — and I think Arizona goes OVER 3.5. That offense is talented, Brissett is a competent quarterback, and I can see them pulling upsets."

Bearman: "The Cardinals are really the only thing that keeps me sane as a Dolphins fan — that there could be a team out there that's worse. I gave out the Cardinals at +250 over the summer. But you're not wrong: their roster IS better."

⭐ BEARMAN'S CARDINALS BET: TREY McBRIDE OVER 6.5 TOUCHDOWNS

The numbers:

🎯 THE TIMING PLAY ON WORST RECORD

Bearman: "What pushes me toward the Cardinals for worst record is the schedule — they play in a much harder division. Seattle and the Rams versus Buffalo and New England, and it's not close. Plus the 49ers, a 12-win team last year, compared to the Jets.

BUT — look at the end of their schedule. They play the Jets, Raiders, and Saints in the final four weeks.

This might be a live bet late in the year: the team is 2-10, they're now favored for the worst record, and THEN you hop on the Dolphins — because the Cardinals have three winnable games left and Miami does not."

The verdict: "I lean Dolphins for worst record. But if you told me to close my eyes and visualize the Cardinals going 3-14 or 5-12, I wouldn't be surprised."

🏆 THE CHALLENGE: BETTOR DAY vs BEARMAN BETS

A New Contest — And a Live On-Air Handshake Bet

The wager: The highest finisher in Bearman's Splash Sports contest who subscribes to one platform but not the other wins the other side's subscription.

Bearman: "That is a deal. We're shaking right here on air."

The Contest Itself — First of Its Kind

The problem it solves: "I've been in the Circa Millions, the Westgate Super Contest, You pick five games against the spread. Period.

I cannot find five NFL sides I like on a weekly basis. I just can't. But that doesn't mean I don't have five BETS. I'm big into totals, props, first halves, second halves, isolated plays. Every Wednesday on VSiN with Tim Murray and Matt Youmans I give four or five picks — a couple totals, a couple sides."

⭐ THE CURVEBALL: TOTALS COUNT

Pick five GAMES — sides or totals, any combination. Five sides. Five totals. Three and two. "If there are 16 games, there are 64 options for you instead of 32."

🏈 COLLEGE FOOTBALL WEEK 0 TAKEAWAYS → WEEK 1 PLAYS

⭐ FADE FLORIDA STATE: SMU -3 (BET)

Bearman: "The one takeaway you could get from last week: they are not a very good football team. They got the win, and New Mexico State is awful — but if New Mexico State could throw all over Florida State, what does that say for what SMU does in week two?

Ask yourself: did you ever think you'd see the day SMU is favored by a field goal ON THE ROAD in Tallahassee? That's how bad it has gotten."

The structural argument: "You're now seeing what the difference is between being in the SEC and Big Ten and NOT being. Last year the ACC was a disaster — Miami was the only team, and Duke won the conference and didn't get in.The money isn't there; they're not getting what the Big Ten and SEC get from ESPN and Fox. And a blue blood like Florida State isn't getting what it needs out of the portal or NIL."

🐐 CREDIT WHERE DUE: NORTH CAROLINA

Bearman: "I was impressed by Bill Belichick. It wasn't pretty. I took the under — my main best bet in the newsletter, though one of your boys beat me to it on your website. It was 10-10 in the first quarter and I got annoyed — and that was it for the scoring.

North Carolina's defense looked really good. I'm still not buying the offense or Billy Edwards — that looked terrible. But they beat a pretty good TCU team 15-10. Now maybe there's a chance they make a bowl and win six — I had that as a loss on my ledger."

⭐ KEEP PLAYING USC TEAM TOTALS

Bearman: "They didn't get to the 48.5 I gave out on Bettor Day because they took the foot off the gas — but what I saw in the first half was 28-0. A really scary USC offense.

I'm going to continue playing USC team totals — I've played them a lot the last three or four years. Yes, San Jose State is terrible — but they backed it up. Florida State played a bad New Mexico State team and did NOT back it up."

🎯 MIAMI -24.5 AT STANFORD (Friday night)

The Trench Report says: Miami has a big advantage.

Bearman: "That doesn't surprise me at all. If you look at talent alone, Miami can win that game by a hundred. They just don't. Miami went to Cal a couple years ago and didn't play well — they're not used to cross-country trips.

24.5 is a big number on the road across the country on a nationally televised game. And this is no longer preseason for Stanford — they played and looked pretty good.

Brass tacks: Miami is significantly better. I lean toward the 24.5 and the hook significantly helps me. I might get there — but I also know this could be 31-0 at halftime and I'd feel like an idiot."

The Heisman note: Darian Mensah is +950, the third favorite, behind CJ Carr and Arch Manning. All eyes on Palo Alto Friday night.

📊 TRENCH REPORT: WEEK 1 IS LIVE

The week zero receipt: the rushing props went 4-0 (arguably 5-0).

Week one is now posted in the college football HQ for Insider and Premium members"
