Derrick Lewis & Waldo Cortes-Acosta UNDER 1.5 Rounds +124
(Pick from UFC handicapper AJ Hoffman @AJIsTheReal)
This one ends in one of two ways. Either Derrick knocks him out or Derrick goes after Waldo and gets knocked out.
Lewis is 40 years old now. He understands his gas tank is not what it used to be and even at its peak his gas tank was not elite. So I expect an aggressive version of Derrick and the thing about Acosta is he is a jab merchant. He's not a big bomb thrower. He waits till he can try to hurt you with that jab. He wants to volume strike with you and Derrick is gonna throw bombs and he's going to make Waldo uncomfortable and either Waldo is gonna have to do something dumb or Waldo's going to catch Derrick doing something dumb. I think one of these guys goes to sleep early.
There's also value on Derrick Lewis to win by KO/TKO at +380. It's significantly more than the price on Lewis just to win at +265 or so. This fight is not going the distance and Lewis is not winning by submission. So if you want to back Lewis to win, backing him by knockout is the better value.
Derrick Lewis is still the greatest knockout artist of all time. And we're talking about a guy in Waldo Acosta who's had a couple wins over some fading guys recently. And now he's this huge favorite all of a sudden. I've seen this story before.
