🆕 THE NEW TOOLS ARE LIVE

As of this morning at BettorDay.com and in the app:

  1. A revamped Trench Report grid — easier to digest, mobile friendly
  2. The Bettor Day Line on the NFL schedule view — our own originated number against the consensus across 14 sportsbooks
  3. KALSHI VOLUME on every game
  4. A full Market Report inside every game (with a second tab for player props)

What You'll See

On the schedule grid: the Bettor Day line, the consensus line and total, and the Kalshi volume — e.g. "Kalshi $1M traded, Seattle 63% / New England 38% implied" or "Kalshi $695K traded, LA 65% / San Francisco 36%."

Plus steam labels right on the grid: "3 books toward Pittsburgh, 0.5 points average" — measured inside two minutes over the last 24 hours.

Inside the Market Report: the most-traded strike with volume and executions over the last 30 minutes, the full steam breakdown, and best available lines with where they are.

🎓 FIDDLE READS THE NEW TOOLS

(Prediction markets are now the majority of his betting volume.)

🔑 RULE ONE: LESS VOLUME = MORE EDGE

Fiddle: "The goal of that Kalshi volume number is for me to be LOWER, not bigger.

The more money traded, the more smart opinions have entered the market — which means theoretically LESS edge. It's the same as Circa bumping limits from 10K to 30K: they do that because they're confident their line is sharp and there's minimal outstanding unknown information. More liquidity means you're probably closer to a source of truth.

So when Seattle-New England has $1 million traded and the Australia game has $600K — there's probably more edge in the game with less money traded."

The takeaway: "If a game has $4.8 million traded, I'm dipping my toes instead of going waist deep. It impacts my bet sizing and scale. Let's check back in a month and figure out what a 'sharp' volume number is and what a 'soft' one is — and attack the softs. I'm sure I'll come back and say your report has $116,000 on this game and $1.5 million on that one. I'm interested in the $116,000."

🔑 RULE TWO: WHEN THE TOP STRIKE ISN'T A MONEYLINE

Fiddle's first prediction of the season: "The most-traded strike is going to be a MONEYLINE 96% of the time or greater. Moneylines are by far the most traded and most liquid on prediction markets. In NBA there might be $30,000 available on each side of a spread and $300,000 — sometimes $1.2 million — on the moneyline."

⭐ THE CAVEAT THAT MATTERS

"For the 4% where it does NOT say moneyline, I am very, very interested in what it is, what direction, and where I can get the best price to match it.

If suddenly the TOTAL is the most-traded thing on the under — a key quarterback just got announced out and people are rushing the screen. A weather report changed and there's a snowstorm brewing, or the winds are gusting so the pass game's gone and kickers can't hit from 40. Or a spread is being hit hard because Mahomes is still dealing with knee discomfort and won't play week two.

In the rare times it's not a moneyline, that means there's a SIGNIFICANT edge wherever that is. And if you can find where it was traded and still get something close to where it STARTED and not where it's ending — you will win, for sure."

🔑 RULE THREE: TIMING AND SIZE THRESHOLDS

When It Happens

Fiddle: "It absolutely matters. The later in the week, the more signal. Thursday, Friday, Saturday will be the most signal versus noise — because that's when we get real injury reports. Wednesday reports have gotten to the point where 75% of the guys who didn't practice are just veterans resting. That's the new wrinkle in NFL injury reporting."

How Big

"Scale to the information relative to YOU. If you're a $20 bettor and you get a signal about what a $100 or $500 trader is doing — that's valuable. If you're a $1,000 bettor, someone operating at your level earns a sign of respect. A threshold of at least a thousand bucks, and know the number of TRADES — if it's one trade for a few thousand, that probably is signal."

🔍 And Then Evaluate the Evaluator

"People want to know who's moving the market so they can evaluate the evaluator — do I back that person or fade them?

If a prop Discord releases a play at -110 and it steams to -160 because everyone piles in with no price sensitivity, there's probably value coming back the other way. Now you're getting +140 GOING AGAINST that person. So: is this a Discord of bettors, or a syndicate?"

📐 WHY THE STEAM IS MEASURED IN AVERAGES

Scott: "Someone might be confused seeing 'five books moved toward Jacksonville 0.9 points on average.' Spreads don't move 0.7 or 0.9 — but that's how we equate it, because we factor in the VIG.

Look at the same game on our free odds board: -8.5 at -105, -8.5 at -108, -9 at -110, -8.5 at even money on an exchange. The price you pay for the same spread is different at every book — so the market report accounts for that."

🧮 SCOTT'S WEEK 1 MODEL RUN: (ALMOST) NO EDGES

Scott: "I ran the Bettor Day line with all our factors — Fezzik's power ratings, other market ratings, my home field analysis, the trench report weights, etc. It gave me exactly ONE signal, and once I adjusted for injuries, that went back on market too.

And I was HAPPY about that. It tells me not only that the market is sharp — it tells me my numbers are good."

Check back often for updates to our Bettor Day Line once injury reports come out and other news.

🎓 FIDDLE ON MODELING: THE FINAL BOSS

"The goal is NOT to win at a 65% clip when you start modeling."

"It's like a video game where I'm Mario trying to beat Bowser. THE FINAL BOSS IS MATCHING THE CLOSING LINE CONSISTENTLY. The strength of a model is getting to where I can consistently land very close to what the closing line will be. Then when I have something off at an opening or midweek line, I'm probably directionally correct and getting the CLV I want.

It's not about looking at 200 bets, being 130-70, and saying you're hitting 65%. That's so small sample. If you're consistently four or five points off the close, something's wrong — and it doesn't matter whether you're winning or losing."

The starting advice: "95% of people who ask me how to model haven't truly started. Just go do the work for four to eight or ten hours and see what questions actually arise."

On priors: "I asked Fezzik once when you stop using previous seasons as priors. He said 'three years ago' — joking, but the point is you never really drop them, because everything in football is such a small sample. Ed Feng uses priors INTO THE PLAYOFFS even with a full season of data."

⚠️ AND THE WARNING ABOUT LATE EDGES

Fiddle: "At the end of the week, you're going to display some edges. Process those as potential WEAK POINTS. If you bet into all of them, you're essentially fading steam at post.

Say I have the Bengals -2.6 and it opened -2.5 — no edge. Then suddenly it's out to +4.5 and I 'see an edge.' But I'm fading Pinnacle at -4.5. I don't need to jam the Buccaneers — I need to question whether I'M off on the Bucs or the Bengals.

If you're just betting the late edges that appear because steam moved against your numbers, you're betting into adverse selection — your WEAKEST stuff, even though it displays an edge. The smart market is saying you're the one who's off."

🏈 32 IN 32 (FINALE): SEATTLE SEAHAWKS

The Market

MarketLine
Win total10.5 (slightly juiced to the over)
NFC West+215 (2nd, behind Rams -105)
Week 1 vs New England-3.5

⭐ THE PLAY: WAIT (Or Take the Under Now)

Fiddle: "If you're considering the OVER, wait until after week one. They're favored — if they win it won't move much. But if they lose...

And the Patriots have been taking steam the last 24-48 hours. I've been surprised at the New England sentiment coming into market."

The departures: "It's not just coordinator Kubiak. Kenneth Walker is gone. On defense — Kobe Bryant, Riq Woolen, Boye Mafe, all gone. They had more people LEAVE than arrive.

I still have them as my second rated power rating team — but I'm a little lower than market. No edge for me in either direction. If you want the under, take it now. If you want the over, wait."

The context: "It's a three-and-a-half point game — a near coin flip. There's a real chance the Patriots win, especially with the market sentiment. And if Seattle loses, they'll have ten days before the next game and it'll probably rebalance."

Scott's addition: "And week two is Arizona — so it's really a 17-day break before a real third test."
