✅ WE CASHED THE FIRST SGP OF THE SEASON

Seahawks 13, Patriots 10

LegLineResult
UNDER 44.5 23 points
Jadarian Price OVER 51.5 52 yards
JSN OVER 81.5 122 yards on 8 catches
Romeo Doubs OVER 35.5

The three-leg build paid +675. (The four-leg with Doubs would have paid +1474 — "Doubs forgot how to catch last night. He'd have had 30 yards on that one play where Maye floated it to him.")

Also cashed: the under and Price as standalone plays.

📊 THE TRENCH REPORT PROJECTION THAT LANDED

The game was the 4th CLOSEST mismatch of the week (Z-score spread of just one) — and the Patriots +3.5 covered, consistent with last year's closest-mismatch dogs going 20-12-1 ATS.

And the running back angle:

MetricNumber
Our projection: Rhamondre Stevenson50.7 yards
Actual51 yards on 18 carries

Scott: "I'm not going to over-celebrate because it's one game. But when the projection says 50.7 and the guy finishes with 51 — something's working."

Mackenzie: "2.8 yards per carry. The Seahawks' trench was up for it."

(Not strong enough to have made a play — but a good first calibration.)

🚨 THE DRAKE MAYE RECKONING

The Line

On passes 10+ yards downfield: 3 of 9 with THREE interceptions. Every pass over 15 yards was an interception. He was 7 of 8 behind the line of scrimmage.

The Pattern

Mackenzie: "Since week 18 last year — four playoff games plus this one, five games. He went over his team total ONCE, and under FOUR times. And the one time was against the Texans, when they had five turnovers and the offense essentially did nothing but convert short fields.

You could say the playoffs were the back injury. It's been about 300 days. I don't think it's the back injury. He UNDERTHREW every major pass of the game.

The Doubs play — I know he tried to make it super easy, but give your receiver some respect. Obviously not his fault, they should have caught it, but it was emblematic. The one touchdown was underthrown to Brown and could have been the defining moment of his career — instead he gets hurt on a comeback later that quarter. And the interceptions were just ducks in the air. Throw the last one to the back of the end zone and you probably get an incompletion — you give your guy a chance. Every major throw he left a little bit short."

📉 THE SCHEDULE STAT THAT EXPLAINS EVERYTHING

Via Scott Kacsmar on X: Of the Patriots' last 22 opponents:

And they had the easiest schedule since 1996 — that's how you win 14 games.

Scott: "Am I supposed to anoint Drake Maye as an MVP candidate off one season against the easiest schedule since 1996? We saw them overmatched in the playoffs, completely overmatched in the Super Bowl, and overmatched again last night against a team that couldn't do anything offensively."

Mackenzie: "And it's not just WHO you play — it's WHEN. This is the worst Seahawks team we'll see all season, assuming Darnold's back next week. On the 77 QBR — that's rarefied air, Tom Brady, Peyton Manning stuff. It comes with a major asterisk. Case Keenum had a great QBR. Brock Purdy led the league in it.

I'm not sure there's a huge difference between the 9th and 20th best QB in the NFL right now. Maye is among the good ones. I don't think he's a Stafford, Jackson, Allen, or Mahomes you can pencil in as leading a contender every year."

🏥 Injury Notes

AJ Brown: ankle — to be reevaluated, hoping it's not a high ankle sprain. Sam Darnold: went for imaging, MRI to follow. Early word from Seattle is encouraging.

🇦🇺 TONIGHT: RAMS vs 49ERS IN MELBOURNE

(10:35 AM Friday local.)

The Line

SourceNumber
BettorDay lineRams -4.67
ConsensusRams -4
OpenedRams -3.5
FanDuelRams -3.5 (-120)
Total48.5 (under -115)

The context: It spiked on the Aaron Donald signing — and Donald is NOT playing tonight. But San Francisco lost Alfred Collins, a defensive tackle, for the season.

Scott: "Not strong enough to play the side, but the Rams would be the lean."

⭐ THE SGP: 3 LEGS AT +563

LegBet
1UNDER 48.5
2Kyren Williams OVER 55.5 rushing yards
3Deebo Samuel OVER 29.5 receiving yards

🧮 The Value Check

True uncorrelated price (-115, -113, -113): +564. FanDuel: +563.

Scott: "We're getting a TRUE payout. I'm never going to be mad at that."

Mackenzie: "Almost exactly the same, to the penny. I guess none of them are that anti-correlated — it all plays out to the same script. Rams win 24-17, the 49ers have a valiant comeback but can't finish."

The Legs

The Under

Mackenzie: "Week one especially, unders are the way to go. On a neutral field, with the Rams coming in after a twenty-hour flight and playing nine hours after they land — I like the under.

The only thing keeping me off it: six of the last seven Rams-49ers have gone OVER, after four straight unders before that. I think that's coin flips, not a trend — but it makes me cautious."

Plus: Matthew Stafford did not play in the preseason — tonight qualifies for the fade system.

Kyren Williams OVER 55.5

The Trench Report has this as one of the LARGEST mismatches of the week (a recommended play on the Rams) AND the NUMBER ONE rushing mismatch — with Kyren Williams the top projection to clear his line.

Mackenzie: "Alfred Collins is out and the 49ers were already rebuilding the middle of their defense — it's a work in progress. It makes sense that a veteran team like the Rams presses the advantage, doesn't do anything fancy, and makes it a shorter game. That helps the under AND the rushing yards — these are more correlated than in most games."

Deebo Samuel OVER 29.5

Mackenzie: "People kind of forget this guy was the number one option in San Francisco for half a decade. I'm not sure he's lost a step. I'm concerned about him staying upright — but for one week, give me over 29.5."

(He also floated Brock Purdy over 245.5 — "if they're down in this game like I fear they will be" — and Deebo over 2.5 receptions.)

🔍 The Prop to Hunt

Scott: "I want Deebo rushing PLUS receiving — FanDuel doesn't list it and DK only has McCaffrey and Kyren. Shop around, or wait for the calendar to flip. If receiving is 29.5, the combo should be around 34.5."

Mackenzie: "He's expected to get one reverse. He might break one"

📊 THE ZERO-PRESEASON-SNAPS SYSTEM UPDATE

Last night qualified with BOTH quarterbacks (granted Darnold got hurt and barely played)— and the game went under AND both team totals went under.

The running numbers (49 QBs, 2021-present, before last night): ATS -2.08, team totals UNDER by 2.32game totals UNDER by 2.67.

Scott: "Before last year it was NEGATIVE FOUR on the game total. Then Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson combined for 81 points in one night and completely skewed the system. It's still profitable, still winning — and Stafford didn't play the preseason either."

🚨 BROCK BOWERS: KNEE CLEANUP, OUT A GAME OR TWO

The weird part: Before Schefter and Rapoport broke it, Klint Kubiak was asked if everyone was good for week one and said: "We're expecting to have all our guys ready for Sunday." That included Jeanty. That included Bowers.

Scott: "I never heard anything about this knee issue — and now suddenly he had a cleanup and misses a couple of games."

The market moved: the Raiders had been taking money as a potential Survivor pick — now Vegas is a 3-point favorite over Miami at FanDuel.

Mackenzie: "Wishful thinking on Kubiak's part — a lot of times they're telling their guys through the media 'don't quit on us for week one.' This is probably the Dolphins' best chance at a win. And then they go 1-16."

🏈 NEW SHOW: DAN AND MACK SURVIVE THE NFL

Debuting this weekend on the Bettor Day podcast feed.

Mackenzie: "A staple in the Survivor podcast world for five years now — SoundCloud, then our own channel, and now proud to be on the Bettor Day Network. One solitary Survivor pick every week. Last year we made it to week ten; we've made it to week fourteen before. This year we're making it to week eighteen and we're going to be very rich men."

Plus a Survivor NEWSLETTER component going out to subscribers this weekend alongside the podcast.

(Scott's goal, self-admittedly: "I've never made it to Thanksgiving. That's the goal — then sell shares of my share." Mackenzie: "We call that the derivative market. It's called swaps.")
