We don't know what the weather's going to do, and weather is variance — it widens the range of outcomes on games I'd otherwise have an opinion about. The smart move was to leave those alone.* *Keep an eye on the forecast before you play anything this weekend, including games I haven't touched.* --- ## 1\. LSU at Kentucky **7:00 p.m. ET · Kroger Field** > **LSU −8.5** \-110 FanDuel LSU's defense is the best unit in this game and it isn't close. They've held Clemson to 145 yards, Louisiana Tech to 139 and Texas A&M to 197\. Clemson scored 10\. A&M scored 6\. They're giving up 221 yards a game — the fewest of any defense on Kentucky's schedule this season, and against FBS teams, no defense Kentucky plays this year has allowed fewer points. I like this Kentucky team. Last week they came back from 17 down at South Carolina and won 35-34 in overtime on a two-point conversion, the largest road comeback in program history. But that's a lot of emotion to spend on one Saturday, and now they come home against a step up in class. We've already seen what happens when Kentucky meets an elite team. Alabama came to Lexington and won 45-17, holding them to 209 yards. **History:** LSU beat Texas A&M 35-6\. Kentucky beat the same A&M team 31-21\. LSU has allowed 221 yards a game. Alabama, the best team Kentucky has played, held them to 17 in a 28-point win. --- ## 2\. Oklahoma vs. Texas **3:30 p.m. ET · Cotton Bowl, Dallas** > **Oklahoma team total UNDER 15.5** \-115, DraftKings Oklahoma can't score right now, and Texas is the last defense they want to see. Since a 51-0 opener against UTEP, the Sooners have scored 10 against Michigan, 14 against New Mexico and 13 against Georgia. Held under 300 yards in all three. This matchup has been a problem for them before. Oklahoma scored 3 against Texas in 2024 and 6 last year. The Texas defense is legit: 7, 23, 6 and 17 points allowed, an average of 13.25\. They held UTSA to 142 yards and Tennessee to 221\. Dallas looks clean and sunny, so there are no excuses. Oklahoma has to earn every point. --- ## 3\. Tennessee at Arkansas **4:15 p.m. ET · Razorback Stadium** > **Tennessee −12.5** \-120, The ScoreBet (-13.5 Okay at -110, DK) This is the number where Josh Heupel's teams take care of business. As a favorite of 10.5 to 17 points, his teams at Tennessee and UCF are 14-5 against the spread, and 7-2 away from home. Earlier this season Tennessee went to Georgia Tech as a 12.5-point favorite and won 45-24. Arkansas hasn't been able to stay on the field with good teams. Utah beat them 43-10, Georgia won 45-17 in Fayetteville, and Texas A&M beat them 34-7 last week. Three losses by 33, 28 and 27, and the Razorbacks scored 17 or fewer in all three. Tennessee's only loss was 20-17 to Texas, and they followed it by beating Auburn 24-14\. Their defense is giving up 15.2 a game. Fayetteville is out of the storm's path — sunny, light wind. **History:** Heupel is 14-5 against the spread as a favorite of 10.5 to 17 points at Tennessee and UCF, including 7-2 away from home. Arkansas has lost to Utah, Georgia and Texas A&M by an average of more than 29. --- ## 4\. North Dakota State at UNLV **7:00 p.m. ET · Allegiant Stadium, Las Vegas** > **North Dakota State −2.5** \-110, Fanatics North Dakota State's defense travels. The Bison are 5-0 in their first Mountain West season and giving up 9.8 points a game, with two shutouts including 28-0 over Wyoming last week, when they held the Cowboys to 162 yards. They've already won on the road at Air Force. UNLV's defense is the opposite. They gave up 464 yards to Cal last week, 444 at North Texas and 418 to Memphis — 384 a game. The North Texas game got away from them 44-6, with four turnovers. This one's indoors at Allegiant, so it comes down to football. **History:** North Dakota State has allowed 7, 0, 32, 10 and 0 points, and 236 yards a game. UNLV has allowed 384 yards a game and lost 44-6 at North Texas. --- ## 5\. Kansas at Utah **10:15 p.m. ET · Rice-Eccles Stadium** > **Utah −15.5** \-105, The ScoreBet Utah keeps covering and I'll keep betting them until somebody proves otherwise. They're 4-0 against the spread: Idaho 66-14, Arkansas 43-10, Utah State 33-0, and Iowa State 31-17 on the road. The defense is giving up just over 10 a game and nobody has scored more than 17 on them. Kansas hasn't left Lawrence all season — all four games at home. Against the two Power Four teams they've played, they lost 38-21 to Missouri and 24-17 to Arizona State. Their wins came against Long Island and Middle Tennessee. Now the first road trip is a night game at altitude. **History:** Utah is 4-0 against the spread, covering by 13.5, 19.5, 6.5 and 6.5\.
